Don Papa Baroko - Bleeding Heart Rum Company

€45.00
Don Papa Baroko from the Phillipine distillery Bleeding Heart Rum Company located on the island of Negros in the Phillipine archipelago is a rich, delicious rum. It is made from juice from high quality sugar cane that has grown in an ideal climate and on soils rich in minerals. After fermentation of the very sweet molasses, the liquid undergoes a slow distillation process in a traditional copper still. The subsequent maturation takes place in heavily toasted American oak barrels previously used for the aging of Bourbon whiskey for a minimum of seven years. The resulting sweet rhum has flavours with ripe vanilla pods and tropical candies fruits. The taste is soft with silky smooth vanilla, a touch of dried dates and raisin and toasted oak on the finish.

Rum Don Papa or Don, was inspired by the stories of one of the unsung heroes of the Philippine revolution - the freedom fighter Dionisio Magbuelas, better known as "Papa" Isio. It is produced by the by Bleeding Heart Rum Company of the Philippines. The cultivation of sugar cane is very ancient in the Philippine archipelago, even preceding that of the Caribbean and has taken place on the island of Negros for centuries, which due to the hot humid climate and the mineral rich volcanic soil is an excellent place for growing sugar cane. The island has many sugar mills producing the high quality molasses, known locally as "black gold" that is used in the production of various Don Papa products.
