2000 Calat Merlot I.G.T Sicilia - Feudo Principe di Butera - Magnum in original wooden box
The name Calat, in Arabic 'Castle', refers to the fortifications built to protect an Islamic-Sicilian settlement after the capture of Sicily by the Arabs in 827.
The grapes for this wine were selected manually in August. The fermentation took place for 3 weeks in temperature-controlled steeltanks. The wine was aged for one year in oak barrels and then 6 months in bottle.
Color: Opulent intense garnet red.
Bouquet: Exciting, complex bouquet with perfectly integrated nuances of small red fruits, blackberries and black currants as well as pleasant vanilla and cocoa tones.
Taste: Soft, elegant and well structured on the palate, perfect balance between sustainable wild berries (mainly raspberries and blackberries) and spice nuances.
