Gattinara D.O.C.G. Riserva - Az. Vit. Antoniolo
The Antoniolo winery is situated in the commune of Gattinara in Alto Piemonte to the north of Novara. The winery was founded in 1948 by Mario Antoniolo and today is managed by his grand children. It is a rather small winery with only 15 hectares with vineyards planted almost exclusively with Nebbiolo. The vines are from 40 to 60 years old and grow in ancient volcanic origin generated by the disintegration of lava rocks very rich in minerals. The production philosophy of the family is to produce high quality wines by intervening in the vineyard as little as possible and as much as possible in harmony with nature.
Gattinara Riserva from Antoniolo is a pure Nebbiolo wine characterized by great finesse and elegance. It is a wine that manages to combine the aromatic richness of the grapes with the mineral freshness typical of this famous terroir of Upper Piedmont. In this area the vine expresses itself in a particular way, with a slimmer and more austere profile compared to the Barolo region.
