Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C. - Castello Banfi
The Castello Banfi estate is nestled between the Orcia and Ombrone rivers on the southern slopes of Montalcino in Tuscany. A constellation of single vineyards dot one third of this three-thousand hectare domain, each unique in its own terroir yet united in a singular heritage and production style.
The Sangiovese vines for this red wine grow in the Castello Banfi vineyards outside Montalcino in Toscana at an altitude of 220 m. The grapes were harvested by hand, meticulously sorted and destalked followed by 10-12 days fermentation on the skins in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged for 12 months in oak barrels and oak barriques followed by a period in the bottle. The remarkable structure of the wine allows a long aging.
