Ramione 2013 - Sicilia D.O.C - Baglio di Pianetto
The vines for the Ramione Rosso grow at two different Estates on Sicily – The Merlot grows in the Santa Cristina Gela vineyard at around 650 m. altitude at Baglio di Pianetto Winery near Palermo and the Nero d’Avola in the Contrada Baroni near Siracusa at an altitude of 50 m.
The grapes were harvested and sorted by hand before being destemmed and lightly pressed. Early natural fermentation using wild yeast, maceration with the aid of marc presses and delestage fermentation to best preserve the primary character of the grapes. The wines were aged in French oak barriques for 12 months and in the bottles for 24 months.
Colour: A clear and vivid ruby red.
Bouquet: Intense, fine and complex with fruity aromas (red berries, raspberry, cranberry and blackberry) and of vanilla and liquorice.
Taste: Ready and harmonious, warm, fairly sapid, complex and lingering. Full-bodied, with enveloping tannins.
Longevity 5-10 years
