Syrah Sicilia DOC - Sallier de la Tour - Principe di Camporeale - Tasca d'Almerita
Sallier de La Tour, owned by the Prince of Camporeale; Filberto Sallier de La Tour, covers about 135 hectares, cultivated with vineyards, olive groves, orchards and pastures, in the territory of Monreale near Palermo in Western Sicily. Its origins can be traced back to the dawn of the history of Sicilian viticulture in the second half of the nineteenth century.
The Syrah vines for this Syrah red wine grow in the Sallier de La Tour Estates clayey vineyards at an altitude of 300 m. outside Monreale. The vineyards are cultivated according to the canons of organic farming.
The grapes were manually harvested, sorted, and destemmed followed by a short cold maseration and 2-3 weeks of alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. After the malolactic fermentation the wine was aged in French oak barriques for around 12 months followed by 12 months in the bottles.
Longevity 5-10 years.
