The family behind the House of Tasca d’Almerata has been active wine producers for many years. Today it is the 8th generation of the family that manages the 5 estates and 600 hectares of cultivated land with a clear focus on sustainability in all steps of the production processes.
The vines for the Nero d’Avola red wine grow in the vineyards at Tasca d’Almerita’s Sallier de La Tour winery outside Monreale near Palermo in western Sicily at an altitude of 300-400 m.
The grapes were manually harvested, sorted and destalked followed by the alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 20 days at controlled temperature. 30% of the wine matured for 12 months in used French oak barrels; the remaining wine in the stainless steel tanks.
Longevity 5-10 years.
