Cirneco 2011 - Etna D.O.C. - Terrazze Dell' Etna
The winery Terrazze dell’Etna (Terraces on the Etna) is located high up on the northern slope of mount Etna near Randazzo. The vineyards stretch from 650 to 850 meters above sea level and totals 36 hectares of vineyards. It was acquired in 2008 by Nino Bevilacqua, a Palermitan engineer deeply in love with his homeland.
The winery is made up of terraced land and small stonewalls running along the vineyards and woods of oak and chestnut trees. The amphitheater of the terraces collects the native vines of Etna as if in an embrace: the Nerello Mascalese, the Nerello Cappuccio and the Carricante, embracing other international varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Petit Verdot. Nerello Mascalese is the main grape variety of the winery, a red thread that unites the entire production.
