N*Anticchia - Etna Rosso DOC - Az. Agr. Pietro Caciorgna
Pietro Caciorgna is a wineproducer based in the town of Casole d'Elsa near Siena in Toscany.
In 2006 he visited a friend and winemaker on Etna, and it did not take long for him to fall in love with the wines and the land on the volcano. During the visit he looked at many vineyards for sale until he found a small jewel, half hectare of Nerello Mascalese vines, raised in alberello at the threshold of one hundred years old. Prefillossera. It was located in the Contrada Marchesa, in Passo Cannone, near Passopisciaro (near Castiglione di Sicilia). He managed to buy it and shortly after he purchased another vineyard located in the Contrada called "Bocca d'Orzo or Piano d'Aria" (near Randazzo).
The production philosophy of Pietro Caciorgna is that the quality of the wines starts in the vineyard. This is where they concentrate their greatest efforts through manual work that is often very hard but necessary to cultivate the vines well. They know that in the cellar they must first preserve and then enhance the characteristics of the Nerello Mascalese grapes brought to maturity with lots of attention.
