Vigna Vico - Etna Rosso DOC - Tenute Bosco
Tenute Bosco is located in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia, on the north side of Etna at 700 meters above sea level. The company's vineyards extend into the two districts of Piano dei Daini in Solicchiata and Santo Spirito in Passopisciaro. The history of the Solicchiata vineyard was already told in 1669 in the documents of Abbot Coniglio of Castiglione, who described it as an area of vineyards and millstones. The vineyard area of the company is about 10 ha. The northern exposure usually generates some difficulties in wine-growing contexts. Instead, the volcano, together with the proximity of the Nebrodi and Peloritani Mountains, gives rise to a climatic pocket with rainfall and insolation that are optimal for the ripening of the grapes, especially the red ones. The Vigna Vico, is an elegant wine with an extraordinary complexity. It expresses all of its potential from a unique and ancient terroir on Mount Etna. It comes from one of the very few parcels in the contrada Santo Spirito that were not covered by the lava flow in the 1879 eruption.
Longevity 10-15 years.
