Quota 1000 Contrada Barbabecchi is a single vineyard wine from the Barbabecchi Vineyard, which is located between 1,000 and 1,100 mt on the northern slopes of Mount Etna. The Nerello Mascalese vines are almost 100 years old and the grape yield low. At this altitude the grapes are harvested in November. This is a vineyard that produces wine of great depth and austerity. The wine has aged 24 months in oak barrels with spontaneous development of malolactic fermentation and for further 12 months in the bottle before marketing.
Colour: Purple red
Bouquet: The elegant nose shows delicious notes of small berries combined with a balmy trail and memories of Mediterranean scrub. Then come spices, licorice and rhubarb.
Taste: On the soft and fresh palate it introduces a velvety tannin and a sapid finish. Long lasting persistence reveals a perfect taste-olfactory match.
Longevity 10-15 years.
