Franciacorta Brut D.O.C.G. - Ferghettina
Vine-growing has been a long-standing tradition in the area of Franciacorta, where vines were grown from Roman times up to the Middle Ages, thanks to the favourable climate and soil condition. Despite going through ups and downs, viticulture never stopped in this region.
The Gatti family took over the Ferghettina winery in 1990 and has since developed the farm with additional, winery and cellars. Today Ferghettina cover 200 hectares of vineyards located in 11 municipalities in the gentle hills of Franciacorta, conforming to organic farming principles, in order to exploit the resources of the different soils as fully as possible, to enhance the quality of the wines.
The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes for the Franciacorta Brut were assembled from 55 different vineyards in Franciacorta. The grapes were manually harvested and sorted. The grapes were carefully pressed and only the best part of the juice was fermented, which was carried out in stainless steel tanks at an average temperature of 16-18 °C. The base wine rested in the steel vats on the fine lees for 6-8 months before bottling. The wine matured in the bottles for 36 months followed by a period in the bottles after dègorgement.
