Grillo - Terre Siciliane I.G.T. - Feudi del Pisciotto
This Feudo del Pisciotto estate is located in an ancient wine producing area. The winery dates back to the 1700s and was once one of the largest in Sicily. The vineyards cover 44 hectares planted since 2002 and lie at 80-250 metres above sea level and 5 km directly from the sea. The estate therefore benefits from two climate related moderators: its altitude, where it can take advantage of the sea breezes and the significant temperature compensator, which is the sea itself.
The Grillo vines for this white wine grow in the sandy and stone rich vineyards near Niscemi at an altitude of 100 m. The harvesting was done manually followed by careful sorting and destemming of the grapes. Fermentation was done in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and the wine matured for 8 months in French oak barriques followed by 8 month in the bottles.
