The Gibellina area in the Belice Valley is an old wine region, well suited for viticulture with its sunny and breezy climate. This is where Tenute Orestiadi started in 2008 with the ambition not only to produce fine wines with a typical territorial face, but also enhancing the cultural and artistic aspects linked to the history of Gibellina and the Mediterranean.
The territory of the Belìce Valley is made up of soils of heterogeneous composition which allow for the cultivation of vines at various altitudes and with different exposures. A characteristic of the hills of the Belìce Valley is the white soil of medium compactness. It has a very high component of limestone and gypsum, which originates from the numerous chalky-sulphiferous formations present in the area. The dry microclimate with good water retention enhances the typical minerality of the soil in this area, making it ideal terrain for the cultivation of autochthonous white varietals such as Grillo, Zibibbo, Inzolia, Catarratto and Grecanico. The La Selezione line of white wines are carefully chosen among the reliefs that surround the Belice Valley, some particularly suitable vineyards are the place of choice for cultivating the grapes destined to make up the line La Selezione.
